Dishwashers Installation
Connect the water supply
1. Install approved tubing or pipe to the water valve. Connection to the valve is 8' inch pipe thread.
2. Use thread-sealing compound or Teflon tape on all threaded connections. The water line must be free of all scale, burrs, chips, and lubricant before connecting it to the valve.
3. Keep the valve from twisting when making the water pipe connection by grasping the brass insert of the water valve with water pump pliers.
Caution:
1. Do not overheat the inlet valve when soldering connections. Overheating will damage the internal parts.
2. Use care to see that no thread compound, thread chips, or foreign material can enter the valve.
3. If the valve clogs with foreign material, remove the four screws at the inlet end of the valve for access to the filter screen.
4. The valve inlet connection is 8 inch pipe thread.
Connect the drain hose to the house drainage system. Attach the hose to the dishwasher the discharge end of the drain hose supplied with the dishwasher can be used. Cut the drain hose at the right ridge on the coupler. Do not cut this hose to shorten it. Coil any excess under the cabinet or in the shaded area. Reverse the ends of the drain hose when connecting it to an air gap. The small end goes on the air gap the bigger will connect to the dishwasher.
Important note: If the drain line goes to a separate trap beneath the floor, make sure that the trap is vented to prevent siphoning. Install an air gap at the countertop level. The air gap is available at plumbing supply houses and hardware stores.
Connect the dishwasher electricity
1. Armored or BX cable must not be allowed in contact with any electrical connections,
2. Provide a separate 15-amp, 120-volt ac, circuit using a 15-amp time-delay fuse or a 15-amp breaker.
3. A 20-amp circuit is required if the dishwasher is installed on the same branch circuit as the garbage disposer.
4. Use only approved wiring connections and wire
5. Connect the white wire from the dishwasher to the white wire.
6. Connect the black wire from the dishwasher to the incoming black wire. Connect the incoming ground wire (bare or green conductor) to the green grounding screw on the unit.
Caution: The joining of aluminum building wire to stranded copper wire involves special procedures, and should be done by qualified personnel.
